About The Project
The Security Facility project in Israel, commissioned by Mapro, focused on producing detailed 2D CAD architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for an 11K square foot (1,000 square meter) high-security site. The project required the creation of architectural and structural floor plans, reflected MEP ceiling plans, and area calculations to ensure precise documentation of the facility's layout and systems. Mapro, an Israel-based surveying company, requested comprehensive as-built drawings of this confidential security facility, covering all MEP systems, structural, and architectural elements. The objective was to deliver accurate documentation that would serve as a foundation for ongoing maintenance, operational planning, and potential renovations of the facility.
Given the nature of the project, the facility's design incorporated specialized security features embedded within the architectural and structural layouts. Our team applied heightened sensitivity and discretion when modeling these elements, ensuring that all classified features were accurately represented while adhering to the strict security protocols governing the site. To achieve this, we based our work on LIDAR measurements provided by the client, converting the point cloud data into reliable and highly detailed CAD drawings that captured the full extent of the facility’s architectural layouts, MEP systems, and structural components. This comprehensive set of deliverables enabled Mapro to confidently manage the facility, ensuring alignment with operational goals and long-term maintenance strategies.
Project Challenges & Deliverables
The confidential nature of this security facility posed unique challenges, demanding innovative solutions and the utmost discretion from our engineering and CAD teams. A significant portion of the site was classified and inaccessible for scanning, limiting direct access to critical areas. Additionally, the entire facility was scanned without color or photographic references, adding complexity to the interpretation of structural and MEP components. Leveraging our extensive experience with sensitive defense industry projects, our team employed advanced point cloud analysis techniques to reconstruct missing data. By thoroughly analyzing the available LIDAR data and applying specialized expertise, we ensured that every essential detail for accurate modeling was captured, even in areas where physical access was restricted to maintain the facility’s security protocols.
A further challenge involved incomplete MEP systems, with the HVAC infrastructure presenting the most significant difficulties due to restricted access. Large portions of the system were non-continuous, requiring detailed analysis and reconstruction. Our engineers carefully assessed the overall layout and, through extrapolation and advanced modeling, successfully completed the missing segments. This process resulted in a fully integrated and closed MEP system that accurately reflects the as-built conditions of the facility.
This project highlighted our ability to operate within high-security environments, demonstrating the trust and confidence placed in us to deliver precise, secure, and reliable documentation for classified defense industry facilities.
